I grew up in the scenic New England town of Newburyport, Massachusetts. After completing my secondary education in Newburyport I began my undergraduate studies at Bates College and completed my studies at Wellesley College where I majored in Mathematics and minored in Computer Science.

After graduating from Wellesley I taught High School Mathematics at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, New Hampshire. After two years working with wonderful students I decided to expand my horizons and became a textbook editor for McDougal Littell. While I enjoyed both teaching and editing textbooks, there was always something missing: higher mathematics.

With that in mind I became one of the first Post–Baccalaureate students at Smith College's Center for Women in Mathematics. It was this program that convinced me to attend graduate school to pursue my PhD in mathematics. In September of 2008 I enrolled in a PhD program at Wesleyan University where I am currently working with Karen L. Collins.
